🌩️ REWILDING SEASIAN CLIMATE AGENCY @BKKCAW 2025

This October 1-5, in conjunction with Bangkok Climate Action Week, Seapunk presented a series of programs (around our central theme of Rewilding Seasian Climate Agency), including a pop-up climate-fiction exhibition titled Snow Society, panels on fiction and imagination, climate-agency education-reimagination workshops, and more.

🛸 SEAPUNK PROTO-COLLEGE

Part frontier study group, part polycrisis-era Southeast Asian studies, and part prototype SEA storytelling school, Seapunk Proto-College (SPC) was a one-week pop-up college held September 15-20 in Kuala Lumpur where we:

Studied the latest protocol thinking (solving coordination problems through shared rules and processes)
Searched for and imagined fresh systems and milieus, especially in the context of frontier-imaginable Seasias (Southeast Asias)
Synthesized and applied these learnings and thoughts via a two-part (fiction + nonfiction) weeklong writing project
Shared and discussed initial ideas at a public SPC Symposium

Seapunk is thrilled to introduce SOUTH BEAST ASIA, a fictional world haunted by AIs in all sorts of (mostly) friendly living embodied forms!

This release comprises thirteen videos that collectively depict a fictional world, supported by an introductory video trailer, expository essay, and dozens of imagined artifacts and concept imagery.

With the exception of the trailer and essay, all other exhibits were created during the five-day Khlongs & Subaks protocol design fiction workshop co-hosted by Seapunk Studios for a few dozen researchers in April 2025. Read the curator’s introduction here, or check out southbeast.asia for more.
